3 Feet Plus for Alta

Winter is officially here! Not bad for the first week of November. Alta Ski Lifts is reporting 34″ on their web site today, with lake affect bands still in line. When it’s said and done we could have a 40 inch base! Looks like we’re on target to open on November 21st, as they announced!

More… AltaCam, Ski Bum Poet

UPDATE 11/10/08: Final tally on the storm was 49″, leaving Alta with a 37 inch base and it’s snowing right now again. Could be the makings for an early opening this year…

AltaCam Ramping Up

As is evident from our sidebar links on the homepage, Altacam.com is a site owned by the GravityFed Network. This site is sanctioned and supported directly by the Alta Ski Lift Co., and includes all kinds of killer Utah skiing related content including our renown Ski Forum, the AltaCam Podcast Series, the monthly (in the winter months, anyway) ski photo contest, custom ski gear reviews and even a ski catalog, powered by Backcountry.com.

AltaCam has been around for quite some time, originally owned and operated by Tom and Trudy Truss (brother/sister), from the old and rootsy T&T Bike & Ski shop that was located at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, in their garage. Not sure what Trudy is up to these days, but last I knew she was living in Oregon. I still see Tom destroying the powder and laughing on those Alta bluebird pow days we all know and love.

At any rate, we’re laying out the production schedule for AltaCam now, as the season is quickly approaching. In fact, the Wasatch mountain tops are white with a fresh blanket of new snow now! We’re going to meet up with Connie Marshall (Alta PR Director) on October 20th to go over our site’s production schedule, and gear up for another killer season. So stay tuned, Altafarians.
