Steamboat Springs, CO, May 27, 2005 — Whether he's designing tents or building a house,
Big Agnes President Bill Gamber considers the environmental impacts of his work. Gamber and his
family have been living "off-the-grid" in a house powered by photovoltaic solar panels for the past
15 years, and he's building an even more efficient solar powered home this summer. Big Agnes – now
five years old – has been a "green" business since day one.
On any given day, there are more bikes than cars at Big Agnes headquarters, and the entire Big Agnes
crew reuses or recycles corrugated boxes, paper, cans and bottles. The company's consumer catalogs
and marketing materials are printed using recycled, post consumer waste paper products and
environmentally conscious inks.
Big Agnes obtains approximately 51% of the power for its headquarters and warehouse from wind-generated
energy through Yampa Valley Electric, and in 2006, four of Big Agnes' tent models will feature a
revolutionary new tent pole system from DAC, which boasts the most environmentally sensitive anodizing
process available for tent poles. Samples of these exceptionally strong and lightweight poles will be
available at the summer OR show. Visit Big Agnes booth #107 to check them out.
Also at Summer OR, Big Agnes will host the Bowl-O-Rama, a fundraiser and bowling party for Leave No
Trace. On August 11th, the first night of the show, Big Agnes invites the entire industry to come out
and roll a few frames to raise money for Leave No Trace. For information on how to get your company
involved with the Bowl-O-Rama, contact Len Zanni, Big Agnes Marketing Director, at (970) 963-2045.
Located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Big Agnes produces sleeping bags, pads and tents that combine
