Albany, New York, August 3, 2005 — For the first time, The North Face and Sierra Designs are turning to PrimaLoft – Insulation Technology™ to introduce a line of sleeping bags that are lightweight, compressible, water repellent and thermally efficient. For Spring '06, Marmot and Big Agnes are expanding their PrimaLoft line of bags and pads. Integral Designs will also present their PrimaLoft bags at the summer retailer show.
"The combination of technical attributes and strong brand awareness has led a number of leading sleeping bag manufacturers to introduce PrimaLoft into their lines," said Tom Mendl, PrimaLoft Director of Marketing. "PrimaLoft has clear benefits over the synthetic insulations that have traditionally been used."
The North Face presents three PrimaLoft sleeping bags as part of its 'Flight Series' which offers ultralight, multi-purpose apparel, equipment and footwear for one day light packing adventures. These lightweight sleeping bags, Pyxis (0-degree, 3 lbs 14 oz), Orion (20-degree, 2lbs 6oz) and Scorpio (40-degree, 1lb 6oz), are highly compressible and offer great warmth and comfort by using PrimaLoft insulation in a quilted layering pattern which keeps the insulation in place and eliminates cold spots on windy nights. All sleeping bags feature 2/3 length zippers, fitted hoods (flat hood in the Scorpio), HelioLite ripstop shell fabric (TNF proprietary shell fabric) and vaulted footbox.
Sierra Designs introduces five compressible and lightweight sleeping bags insulated with PrimaLoft Sport. Building upon its award-winning line of ultralight sleeping bags, Sierra Designs will offer gender specific bags such as the Lazer, a men's 30 degree bag, the Volt, a men's 15 degree, and Glow, a women's 15 degree bag. The women-specific bag is designed with extra insulation in the torso and foot box, fleece linings in the foot box and a cut that better contours the women's body. Sierra Designs' "Synthetic" line of bags will feature Side Kick 30 and Side Kick 40, two PrimaLoft sleeping bags with high-performance compressibility and warmth. Rated at 30 and 40 degrees respectively, the Side Kick Compact bags are perfect road trip companions.
The Pounder Bivy sack is the newest addition in the Marmot PrimaLoft sleeping bag line. The Pounder Bivy is a 25 degree F rated overbag that features a Pertex Quantum Endurance water-resistant fabric shell laminated on the inside with PrimaLoft Sport insulation. Cut oversize for nesting, the Bivy features a ¾ length side zip.
Big Agnes is adding the ACDC Pad in its Spring '06 line. The ACDC Pad features DualCore technology, an innovative construction technique that integrates PrimaLoft with a foam core, offering a lightweight and comfortable pad with the great support of foam. The pad is available in regular and mummy shapes, in 72", 78" and 66" lengths and compatible with some Big Agnes sleeping bags.
