5th Annual Avalanche Jam Gears Up
Golden, CO, August 30, 2006 - The 5th annual Avalanche Jam, hosted by Backcountry Access, will take place from 5pm-10pm on Fri, September 22nd outside the American Mountaineering Center in Golden. The Avalanche Jam is a fundraiser for the Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
Back by popular demand 'Damage Done' has returned as the headline act. This Colorado band features musicians from Neptune Mountaineering. Route 7 will be the opening band for Damage Done (comprised of the pre-teen offspring of the headliner!).
In addition to the music, the event will include dinner from El Senor Sol's, beer from New Belgium Brewery, an outdoor demo village and a silent auction. Donors to the silent auction include BCA, Patagonia, G3, Marmot, MSR and Cloudveil...more expected!
Last year's event provided the CAIC with much needed funds to offer avalanche education and forecasting for Colorado recreationalists. Colorado is home to one of the largest backcountry markets in North America. Coupled with the most dangerous snowpack, the CAIC plays an integral part in daily trip planning for backcountry users. The CAIC is partially funded by the CO Deptartment of Transportation, State of Colorado, the Colorado ski industry, and the Friends of the CAIC.
"It's a good way to prepare for the ski season, catch up with friends and support avalanche forecasting and education. Come enjoy a great event and support avalanche safety in our state. We really appreciate every dollar raised to help the CAIC," says Ethan Greene, Director of CAIC.
Tickets are $35.00 in advance and $40.00 at the event. Purchased them in advance at your local outdoor retailer or by calling Backcountry Access at 303-417-1345.
