Utah Avalanche Center and Black Diamond Team Up for Fundraiser
Salt Lake City, UT, September 28, 2006 - Powder skiers braved rain cloud bursts to attend Black Diamond's 13th Annual fundraising party for the Utah Avalanche
Center (UAC). Black Diamond and nearly 700 backcountry enthusiasts raised more than $33,000 for the UAC, which provides daily avalanche
advisories and warnings, mountain weather forecasts and avi education for the Wasatch Mountains.
An hour into the party, the clouds parted and kids and dogs splashed through mud puddles to the tunes of Jerry Joseph. Partygoers filled
their plates and their cups. Black Diamond thanks everyone who attended, including the Byrne family and the local artists and community
members who donated auction items.
Colleen Graham Nipkow, Black Diamond's Marketing Manager and Prez of the UAC, commented on the importance of the annual fundraiser. "The
skiers and riders in the Wasatch truly took ownership of the Utah Avalanche Center when Federal funding cuts threatened the effort. It
is the generosity of local backcountry users that allows everyone to enjoy and explore the Wasatch Range more safely. Black Diamond is
honored to serve as a venue for this important and inspirational event."
