Without a doubt, these gloves and socks are high on my list of cool products. When I first saw the socks at the Outdoor Retailer show last January, I was blown away by how waterproof they were. SealSkinz had a great demo set up where the sock was sprawled over a water filled glass jar, with the bottom of the sock submerged in the water while the top was open for anyone to stick their hand in. I stuck my hand in and swished around like crazy and my hand stayed dry. I was impressed, but skeptical that something that keeps you so dry could be breathable as well. I immediately arranged for some test samples.
After four months of testing in just about every activity (biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, rafting, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and trail running) I found the gloves and socks lived up to their promise of being both waterproof and breathable. There was no garbage bag effect like I've encountered with other neoprene equipment. My feet and hands stayed comfortable and dry throughout my days wearing these products.
Not only are these socks and gloves waterproof and breathable, but they are rugged as well. I, along with several other testers, abused them for over 3 months of extreme testing and they barely show any wear. The socks have been worn on rocky terrain without shoes and have been washed numerous times. This ruggedness probably stems from the fact that both the gloves and socks are seamless. Since there are no seems, there is nowhere for the stresses of daily use and laundering to concentrate and cause problems. This is particularly good for the socks, because they get pretty stinky and will need to be washed often.
The only drawback I found was with the initial fit of the gloves. When I first wore them, the creases from manufacturing and packaging felt rather awkward. Yet, after about a week worth of use, they eventually molded nicely to my hand.
I think these socks and gloves are a must have for wet sports like adventure racing, fishing and kayaking. I would also buy a pair for biking, hiking and snowshoeing in wet conditions. The one sport that the socks did not work well for was skiing, because they were a little too bulky to wear in tight fitting alpine boots. However, the gloves worked well for skiing on warm spring days.
SealSkinz offers three different waterproof socks; an 11" (size tested), a 15" and a 15" with a water stopping cuff. They also offer two types of gloves; one up to the wrist (size tested) and one up to the elbow.

Review:
I have been using sealskinz for almost two years.. I primarily use them for kayaking and water related adventure racing disciplines like rivercrossing, paddling, swimming, coasteering and traveling during torrential downpours when you just can't afford to stop. Sealskinz give me the protection that I need to continue through some pretty tough conditions while still keeping my most important parts (hands and feet) nice and dry. The fact that they are waterproof and breathable make them the only choice for me when I know that I am gonna have even a slight chance of getting wet. They are a standard in my backpack anytime I head out into the backcountry or waterways. If you like to stay dry this is the product for you..
