The Completely Biased Review...

Category: Videos/DVDs

By Jesse Hoffman

The Weather is a 4-part BBC documentary that explores the world's climates with host Donal MacIntyre. Wind, Wet, Cold and Heat take the viewer on an extreme adventure through the worst (or best) that Mother Nature has to offer. This documentary goes in depth on how wild weather events like hurricanes, monsoons, ice storms, avalanches and tornadoes are created. Donal MacIntyre travels the world from the North Pole to the equator and puts his body on the line to illustrate what the effects of these amazing weather events may be. He gets battered in a wind tunnel, frozen in an icebox, subjected to a reservoir flood, and endures a marathon across the Sahara. While he takes on the worst the weather can throw at him, great computer graphics and rare archive footage reveal the strange and often unbelievable forces that are the earth's weather. Survivors' accounts from such disasters as Hurricane Andrew, a Montreal ice storm and the flood of Britain's eastern coast add to the power of this video. These 4 one hour segments are both entertaining and educational.
