Bottom Line

Field Notes

GORP Energy Bars I was fortunate to attend the Outdoor Adventure Show in Calgary, Alberta in 2015.  I was representing Leave No Trace Canada, and as with most trade shows, one spends their free time checking out the other booths.  This is where I discovered GORP Energy Bars.  The name in itself is an attractant to anyone that loves outdoor adventures.  GORP has been a staple for adventurers for quite some time, although most people call it trail mix these days. Another pleasant surprise for me, was that GORP bars were made in Manitoba, the next province over from my home province, Saskatchewan. The following flavours are currently available:
  • Peanut Butter and Apple
  • Peanut Butter and Raspberry
  • Cocoa, Hemp and Almond
I have tried them all and each one is excellent.  In addition to the great taste, these bars provide 270-280 calories with a hefty 6 grams of fiber in each bar. Each bar is individually wrapped in a re-sealable package with a removable sticker.  This is a great little feature, as the bar can be resealed if you are not quite that hungry, and if you so choose, the sticker can be peeled right off and placed on your favorite piece of adventure gear. GORP bars are available in select stores across Canada, and can be shipped to the United States if being purchased by an individual.  I would highly recommend these bars to anyone that is looking for a healthy, great tasting trail snack. There is a wealth of information available on these great bars at Disclaimer:  My opinions are entirely my own and I am not getting paid to publish positive comments.
